What’s going on

Again, I’m not dead. I wasn’t even sick this time. Part of the reason I haven’t been writing anything is because I can think of nothing interesting to say. But I’ve decided that not even that will stop me now. Nothing can stop me now, ’cause I don’t care anymore. It’s funny, in one afternoon, I can think of tons of Nine Inch Nails lyrics that describe exactly my moods and my thoughts.

You are the perfect drug.

Take me with you.

I had a great spring break. It exceeded my expectations more than is imaginable. I didn’t get any schoolwork done. That Sonic Youth album I mentioned a couple weeks ago, I gave mine away to an awesome girl. Then I bought the expanded 2-disc reissue. How can it get any better? “It” being all of the above.

A small dose of irony

Just an amusing bit that caught my eye today. I guess the House today passed a law increasing the fines for violating FCC indecency standards. I was browsing the headlines on Google News, and the top link for this story was to an article on AVN.com. Now for those of you who don’t know, AVN or Adult Video Network, I believe, is a huge entity in the Adult Entertainment world. They rate DVDs and even host an awards show every year for adult movies. Right on the same page as the article were lovely ads for Hustler and Vivid, an adult movie company. I just found it funny that it was the Google computer’s top pick for the articles relating to this story.

I’m not dead

Almost though. I was about to post some stuff last week, but I came down with a cold that drained all my energy. I’m starting to get better, but I’m still not completely well. As I begin to feel better and am faced with homework that I haven’t done, writing on here will look much more appealing than Latin grammar exercises.

“You call that music?”

DirtyI just downloaded a Sonic Youth show from 1992 in Europe somewhere. As I was listening to it, I was reminded of how much I love the album Dirty. Just being able to turn all the noises into rhythmical songs amazes me. But these songs are even more than that. Maybe it’s because I’ve been listening to Sonic Youth for years, or I discovered them near the beginning of my impressionable years, I don’t know. These songs just strike me in a way that I feel them. My ears take in the sounds and they just get to me.

My friends have always laughed at me for liking Sonic Youth. They think that the music is absurd, if they even cede that it is music. But if you are willing to give them a try, this is a great album to do it with. Nothing is too out there, but it certainly will give you a taste of what is possible and achieved on other records. My favorite album is Daydream Nation by the way.
