done.

I guess it’s just done. I feel like there is a lot more to be said, but I have nothing left to say.

Have a good what?

This post was inspired by Kirsten who made me recognize the frequency of this occurance. Do you ever notice how people at businesses greet you fairwell by saying, “Have a good one”? I hear this multiple times a day when I am out doing things. I just got off the phone with Verizon and the guy told me to “Have a good one”. But what exactly do they mean? If someone serves me a sandwich and they say it, I may interpret it as have a good meal. Or if I’m renting a movie, it could mean have a good movie watching time. But what about at the supermarket if I’m buying toilet paper? Have a good shit?

Specifics people, ambiguity can lead to much confusion. At least on my part because I think too much.

Hi Mr. Keswick!

After work on Thursday I went to grab coffee with Marjan. We were sitting outside in the patio area and after a while some kid walks by and says, “Hey, you were my sub, what’s up?”

I have taught the same class twice over at Steinbeck, right near that coffee place, so it made sense that a kid would walk by.

“At least he didn’t remember my name or anything,” I told Marjan.

Should have kept my mouth shut on that one.

About an hour later we’re still there minding our own business and out of nowhere we hear, “It’s Mr. Keswick! Hi Mr. Keswick! Hee hee hee…” come from this flock of 7th grade girls walking by on their way to Albertson’s.

It was pretty embarrassing. Marjan absolutely loved it. I think she almost died laughing.

Of course, on their way back, they didn’t fail with the “Bye Mr. Keswick!” and the giggles.

American Porn

I was flipping through channels tonight after watching some CSI reruns and stumbled upon a documentary about porn on PBS of all places. It was quite good in my opinion, it didn’t sugarcoat the porn industry too much, but it wasn’t condemning of it either. They even got in a few jabs at George W. Bush and John Ashcroft. It got quite explicit talking about the kinds of things people are putting out there. Fun stuff.

Poor little dog.

I was just driving home from work down the expressway in the left lane. The minivan in front of me starts slowing down and then stops for some reason. Then I see a little white dog in the median about to cross the street into heavy traffic. The two lanes to my right keep flowing quite quickly not knowing there is a dog there. He starts crossing the street right in front of the minivan that has stopped. The little red sports car zipping down the middle lane doesn’t see him. Poor little dog. It was pretty sad to watch, I honked my horn as I saw the car approaching, but it was way too late by that point. The woman driving was pretty shocked too. She pulled over shortly afterwards and was sitting on the side of the road with her hand over her mouth with her young teenage daughter in the passenger seat. Poor little dog.

nerd worries

Had a scare this morning when the computer would not recognize two of my hard drive partitions. I couldn’t get scandisk or anything to run, they just weren’t readable. So I tried to ignore the problem and went ahead and installed my DVD burner. Then when I turned the machine back on, it would stay on for a minute or two and then restart. Bad news. I thought it might be the bad drive doing something, so I unplugged it inside. It turns out that I unplugged the wrong drive, and in doing so, caused the computer to find the corrupted drive during start up and begin repairing it. I’m not sure yet how much data was lost because of bad sectors or whatever, but I know I didn’t lose it all. I was also able to figure out that it was only downloaded concerts that I would have lost, but 40 gigs of them. I’m slowly getting everything back together.
