thanks for this tip. under windows you need to register the protocol in the os, the scheme above only applies to linux and mac.

Next time it happens, no need to wipe all... Usually, you can remove the old deb archives from /var/cache/apt.... and you can also remove obsolete packages with deb-orphan... This is also true for mint-linux.</description>
